We would like to collect rock samples from UC lands within the Granite Mountains Desert Research Center (GMDRC). We anticipate collecting 5–10 samples, with a volume of 1–2 quartz per sample. We plan to principally sample plutonic rocks, but also hope to sample metamorphic rocks enclosed within the granites, if observed. Samples will be collected using a rock hammer. We will coordinate closely with GMDRC staff to ensure that sampling does not impact sensitive areas, on-going experiments, or archeological sites within the reserve.
