This is an entry level weekend long field course with the goal of orienting students to the diversity and interactions of the desert's ecological community. We plan to camp at the old campground Friday and Saturday night. Friday evening we plan to take students on hikes in the areas adjacent to the campgrounds, exclusively utilizing established trails, with the goal of observing desert plants and pointing out visible adaptations they possess as well as any fauna we may come across. At the campground we hope to set up a black light for observing insects.
